West Parley Parish Council is made up of elected Parish Councillors who work together to represent the local community. The Council is led by a Chair, supported by a Vice-Chair, with decisions made collectively at public council meetings. The Parish Clerk supports the Council with its administration and day-to-day operations, while committees and working groups focus on specific areas of parish business.

The Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) support the Parish Council in its day-to-day administration and financial management. The Clerk advises the Council on procedures, manages correspondence and records, and helps ensure decisions are properly implemented. As RFO, they oversee the Council’s finances, including budgets, payments, accounts and financial reporting, helping to ensure that the Council meets its legal and financial responsibilities.

About West Parley Parish Council

West Parley Parish Council represents the local community and works to improve the parish and the quality of life for residents. The Council is responsible for making  decisions on some local matters, managing community facilities and supporting projects that benefit the village.

The Council’s responsibilities include maintaining and managing parish-owned land, play areas and facilities, supporting community organisations and events, and considering local planning matters. It also works with Dorset Council and other organisations on issues affecting the parish, including highways, transport, public rights of way, environmental matters and local development.

Parish Councillors are elected by local residents and work together to represent the interests of the community. The Council is supported by the Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer, who manage the Council’s administration, records, correspondence and finances.

The Council aims to listen to residents, respond to local concerns and help shape the future of West Parley. Through responsible management and community-focused projects, the Parish Council seeks to maintain and develop West Parley as a welcoming and thriving place to live, work and visit.
